Be Kind, Rewind
Album: Across the Frequency
Lyrics by Melissa Bianco
Upbeat 1980s pop rock and new wave with jangly guitars, bright female vocals, and sing-along harmonies, delivering a pointed reminder to think before you post.
Lyrics
Armchair warriors, keys like swords
Big opinions, never been to war
Anonymous – weapon of choice
So brave behind a faceless voice
Keyboard rockstar in a comment thread
Typing it loud, not head-to-head
No one needs that kind of fight
Once it’s out, there’s no rewind
No backspace that “just kidding” line
Your personal take – a rally shout
You’re locked in now, no way out
Be kind – rewind your tongue
Before the damage is done
Hit reverse, press pause, then stop
Did that zinger need to drop?
Be kind – rewind your tongue
Take it back before you’re gone
Quips are short, but life is long
Couch-potato trolls, far from the front line
You’ll change your tune when you’re offline
Sitting in HR – you don’t know how
Funny at the time, but not so much now
Friendships splinter, careers derail
Did you think your brilliance couldn’t fail?
There’s a cost to mean – no refund
I’m not saying we can’t disagree
Still a free country, yeah – guaranteed
But freedom doesn’t mean no cost
Your digital fingerprint is never lost
Be kind – rewind your tongue
Before the damage is done
Hit reverse, press pause, then stop
Did that zinger need to drop?
Be kind – rewind your tongue
Take it back before you’re gone
Quips are short, but life is long
Is it true? (true!)
Is it kind? (kind!)
If it’s neither – hit rewind (rewind!)
Press pause – tone it down
Think twice – try common ground
Be kind – rewind your tongue
Before the damage is done
Hit reverse, hit pause, then stop
Let those words fade away
Be kind – rewind your tongue today
Back it up
Press pause
Just stop
