Marathon Girl
Album: Across the Frequency
Lyrics by Melissa Bianco
A driving 1980s arena rock anthem with big guitars and powerful, husky female vocals, about a restless girl who keeps running and a plea for her to come home.
Lyrics
Always moving
Since you were young
You never sat still
You’re chasing a win
Can’t slow you down
Never stick around
Never see the whites of your eyes
Fear or surprise
You run
They chase
Never stop
Can’t stay
You’re a marathon girl
Whoa, always running
What’s coming for you?
Don’t look back
Hair blowing wild
An eighties child
Flying free
Can’t tame you
An animal caged
She will fight
Watch that bite
Won’t stop pacing
Soul is racing
What’s haunting you?
You run
They chase
Never stop
Won’t stay
You’re a marathon girl
Whoa, always running
What’s coming for you?
Don’t look back
Aren’t you tired?
Slow down
Please stay
Don’t run away
You’re a marathon girl
Whoa, always running
What’s scaring you?
Don’t look back now
No need to run
Come on home
You’re safe now
You’re safe now
