Rinse and Repeat
Album: Chance of a Lifetime
Lyrics by Melissa Bianco
Mid-tempo indie folk-rock with warm guitars, natural drums, and grounded female vocals, balancing humor and sincerity through the repetitive rhythm of building a game world.
Lyrics
Atlas done, looked all pretty
Moved on to Galaxy City
Learning how to create spawns
And write the dialogue
Pathing is broke, not as easy as it sounds
The tram starts driving straight through town
(literally)
Cut through a building, now floating mid-air
Why are NPCs wandering way up there?
So much for glamorous
I’m fighting defeat
Lay down one asset
Rinse and repeat
Again… and again
This plaque’s clipping through its geometry
Why can’t that Skull lean symmetrically
The mission door’s busted, dumps me in a cave
How did it happen? I was at the subway!
Paco Sanchez won’t give me a mission
Just stands in Cygnus, silent derision
These Outcasts are nasty, Vahzilok brutes
They won’t walk the path I directed them to
So much for glamorous
I’m fighting defeat
Lay down one asset
Rinse and repeat
Again… and again
Zone creation is picking up speed
Now mission sets are in great need
Office, Warehouse and Sewers, so many
Need spawns and glowies, doors for entry
We are hitting an assembly line
I’m busting out content in record time
I’ve mastered the editor, home-grown and all
Now teaching my teammates at beck and call
So much for glamorous
Ducking the heat
Lay down one asset
Rinse and repeat
Again… and again
Something secret and fun players discover
Don’t tell them, let them recover
The Easter eggs I place discreetly
This is a blast, I create them weekly
Homages and hints, we sneak them in
Comics, TV, movies, culture nods for the win
This is the fun part, deep cuts galore
To the respected masters who came before
So now this is glamorous
I’m feeling the beat
Lay down one asset
Rinse and repeat
Again… and again
The game comes together one zone at a time
Still so much to do, running behind
Grand ideas scoped back, no time for that
Reuse your assets, it’s where we’re at
Be creative, modify, that’s the new plan
Beta is coming, need this in the can
The Rikti Invasion is coming soon
Late night sessions, work ends with the moon
Ok this is glamorous
I’m feeling the beat
Lay down one asset
Rinse and repeat
Again… and again
Our devs use characters from their campaigns
But I don’t have one, never played those games
Pick one, they say, the options are rich
Sassy and ruthless, her name is War Witch
From the Dark Horse comic Issue One
I adopted her name from that day on
Green-black hair, leather matches her suit
She’s a real Magic-based blaster to boot
This part is glamorous
I’m feeling the beat
Lay down one asset
Rinse and repeat
Again… and again
